As the war progresses, the situation becomes increasingly desperate not only at the front, but also in the German Reich itself. Hunger spreads at home in the face of the British continental blockade. Even the previously prosperous Chindlers now had to cut back massively. In France, the Americans have intervened on the side of the British and French and are now pressing hard against German positions. Maggie and Clemens want to use a general strike to force the German state and army leadership to ask for peace.
