Mexico declared her work a national heritage, the women's movement stylised her as a cult figure, artists like Picasso and Breton celebrated her talent: we are talking about Frida Kahlo. At the age of 18, she suffered an accident that left a lasting mark on her life with pain, operations and childlessness. The film takes us to Coyoacán, to the Blue House - the place of her birth and the last years of her life. Today, the house serves as a museum in memory of the charismatic artist. Haunting self-portraits and poignant imagery tell of her life and suffering, her thoughts and feelings, her gruelling love for Diego Rivera and her deep roots with Mexico.
